Cherai beach is the busiest beach in Kerala and one of the best beaches overall. The beach is away from the Cochin city, around 1.5 hours drive from the city. Cherai beach consists of a really long and wide sea shore and is the place for water based games and activities like speed boating, parasailing and all. It is also one of its kind where one could witness the river and sea together.

Best place to visit for a weekend getaway. According to people, the beach is very busy irrespective of the days. Beach is clean and nice. Good one for swimming and taking some great photographs. The sunset view was superb. However parking was a concern and the narrow roads with vehicles parked on either sides contributes to traffic jams and congestions. Even we faced it … 🙂
About Cherai Beach
Cherai Beach is a beach located in Cherai, northern side of Vypin Island. A suburb of the city Kochi in the state of Kerala, India. One of the most visited beaches in the state, it is situated at around 25 km from downtown Kochi and 20 km from Cochin International Airport.
The beach is around 10 km long and is ideal for swimming as the tide is mostly low and the waves are gentle. It is known for frequent dolphin sightings. It is one of the few places where the backwaters and the sea can be seen in a single frame. Cherai Beach offers the less busier and cleaner option accessible to Kochi and always attract the tourists from around and other states as well.
There are also lots of resorts around the place.
